Canvasser Guide
Everything you need to go door-to-door β finding addresses, recording visits, logging residents, and tracking your progress.
Home Screen
The home screen is your starting point. It shows addresses near your current GPS location, lets you search for any address, and displays an active route footer when you have a route in progress.
Active Route Footer
When you have an active (in-progress) route or area, a persistent footer bar appears at the bottom of the home, household, and resident screens.
Shows a status beacon (π’ green = active, β« grey = paused), the route name, and an Active/Paused chip. Tap or drag up to expand.
Drag the bar upward to expand. Shows the route map, and if you have multiple active routes a selector list lets you switch between them. The type badge (Route/Area) and βΉ Info button appear in the header.
Continue dragging the header bar up to make the map taller, or drag it down 60 px to collapse back to the slim bar.
Tap βΉ Info to open a details sheet showing Status, Start date, Duration, and your Notes. Pause, Resume, and Complete buttons are also here. Tapping Complete asks for confirmation before marking the route done.
Visiting Households
Tap any address card to open the household screen, which shows all previous visits, residents on file, and lets you record a new visit.
Recording a Visit
Tap Record Visit then choose an outcome:
Spoke to resident is the main success outcome. All outcomes are logged with a timestamp and your name.
If your branch has literature items configured, tick which you left at the door. This feeds into the branch manager's visit reports.
Free-text field for access issues, intercom codes, or anything the branch should know about this address.
Saved immediately. The household refreshes to show the new entry at the top of the visit history.
Recording Residents
Capturing resident data is the most valuable thing a canvasser does. Record party support, the issues people care about, and contact details if they want to get involved.
To edit someone already on file, tap the Edit button on their resident card β the form pre-fills with their existing data.
First name, last name, age bracket, and gender. All fields are optional β even a first name alone is useful.
Select one or more parties. For each, choose a support level β Activist, Strong, Leaning, Undecided, Unlikely, or Against β and optionally pick reason tags that explain their stance (e.g. "NHS Funding", "Cost of Living").
Tap issues the resident mentioned. These are configured by your branch manager and reflect concerns specific to your area. You can search within the tag grid.
Toggle Mark as Supporter to reveal contact fields β first name, last name, email, and mobile. This adds the resident to the branch supporters list.
If an issue comes up that isn't listed, tap Suggest Tag. Name it, optionally link it to a party, and set the sentiment. Your suggestion goes to the branch manager for approval.
Routes & Areas
Your branch manager creates routes and areas to coordinate canvassing. The Routes tab shows routes available to take plus any you already have in progress.
What You See in the Routes Tab
The Routes tab only shows cards that are relevant to you:
Routes in progress or assigned to other canvassers are hidden from your list. Completed routes you finished remain visible for 24 hours with an Undo option.
Starting a Route
Tap Take This Route on any available card. It becomes assigned to you so nobody else takes it at the same time.
Tap Start Route. The route footer bar appears at the bottom of the home screen β tap or drag it up to expand the map.
Work through the area or waypoints at your own pace. The footer bar stays visible while you move between screens.
Managing an Active Route via the Footer
While a route is active, all route controls are in the footer popup β expand it and tap βΉ Info to open the details sheet.

Activity
The Activity tab is a personal log of your most recent visits β address, outcome, and time. Tap any entry to jump back to that household.
Badges & Leaderboard
The Badges tab rewards your canvassing contributions with visual achievements, and shows how you rank against other canvassers in your branch and nationally.
